Palouse Divide Lodge History

The area was originally developed in the 1930's as a small downhill and ski jumping
training facility for Washington State University. Comprised of 60 acres the old lodge was built by the WPA in 1939. WSU eventually acquired ownership and operated the ski area until 1980 when it was sold to a private party.  Previously called North South Ski Bowl,  the ski area went through a succession of ownerships. In 1999 it was purchased by Lane and Shirley Hathaway and they converted to a PRIVATE conference/retreat center and home now called Palouse Divide Lodge. The day lodge was enlarged in 2006, to include a new gift shop, conference room, and lodging accommodations in the Main Lodge.

The wonderful thing about Palouse Divide Lodge is that it is not open to the general public. Visits are by appointment only. You can rent the facility for your conference or retreat. Keeping the lodge PRIVATE helps ensure that your time there is not run over by public visitors. The lodge does hold public events around holidays to show case local artist creations.

Private Getaway - The ski lift building was remodeled, creating the lodge's lookout tower. The tower is a private suite that has 1 bedroom, 1 bath, kitchen area, living room and a wrap around deck to allow you to capture a wonderful view. There is a minimum 2 night stay. To reserve the tower, you will need to call 1-208-245-3552.

The "Park 'n Ski" area for cross country skiing is not part of the lodge. The parking for this area is before you get to the Lodge gates.
